Art mentor and cartoonist Aaron Southerland will hold a new series of Cartooning Vibe Sessions for Berkeley students during their Autumn 2026 trimester. This time, in what many past and present mentees call his “natural habitat”: a local indie cafe! Students will continue working on their creations within the cartooning and animation fields. The guidance from Aaron will include drawing techniques with a wide array of drawing materials depending on the student's individual traits & skill set. Everyone will benefit from the low-pressure setup and the occasional jazz and video game playlist!

Yes… Aaron will still have his Bluetooth speaker for the group’s table.

-Location: Souvenir Coffee, 3084 Claremont Ave., Berkeley, CA 94605

-Time: 1 pm-3 pm. Aaron will arrive a couple of hours beforehand to set up.

-Dates: Saturdays, August 29th, September 12th and 26th, October 10th and 24th, November 7th and 21st, December 5th and 19th

-Prices: $220 for the full trimester coverage and $20 for the daily drop-ins -preferred for those who may have sporadic weekend schedules-

-Supplies used: Sketch paper, graphite pencils, mix- media paper, watercolor pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, water- based brush pens and fine- tip ink pens
